KB,KY,CA and Nora
A challenge coin given to Delano for his service in Iraq was used for the coin toss. Sopcic wins the toss, but elects to receive. Players are on-serve until Sopcic breaks JT from deuce. Edging ahead to a 3-2 lead, Sopcic extends his lead to 4-2, after fighting off several ad-outs. JT is able to close to 4-3 after Sopcic makes several errors ranging from short dropshots to long volleys. A winning slam, followed by three JT errors finds Sopcic leading 5-3. JT easily holds to close to 5-4, but Sopcic dominates his service-game to win the first-set as darkness begins to effect play.

BW wins Fantasy Trophy
During intermission Fantasy Champion BW was presented his trophy for successfully selecting the players with the most victories throughout the season. Broadway is a skilled fantasy player in many sports - leaping ahead early in the season, and dominating his competition throughout.
Interviews during intermission were heated! JT attributed his first-set loss to Sopcic's style of game "dragging him down". Meanwhile, Sopcic claimed that Dynasty Champ-JT's game was "One dimensional, making him unable to deal with my variety of shots".
At this point in the match, darkness prevented the resumption of play. Players and spectators grew restless. KB assisted by tracking down facility maintenance personnel which claimed a generator failure earlier in the week would prevent the lights from lighting. Dynasty Champion-JT seemed displeased - exclaiming the virtues of the courts in Ankeny! Suddenly, the lights flicked on unexpectedly, and play resumed!

The brown-eye!
The wind which had slightly effected the first-set diminished during the second-set, and play was noticeably improved! Players break each other, as a JT forehand hits the netcord, bouncing over Sopcic's head for a winner. Sopcic fails to execute his patented brown-eye, followed by a failed dropshot to permit JT to level the set at 2-all. Sopcic finds himself down 40-15, but executes a winning volley, a winning slam, and a stellar brown-eye to take advantage! When JT errors into the net - Sopcic finds himself up one set to none, and leading 3-2 in the second. Sopcic then dominates his service-game (holding at love), then breaks JT after a hotly contested game to lead 5-2. JT sensing imminent doom, musters the resolve to close to 5-4, but Sopcic (serving for the championship) quickly jumps to TRIPLE CHAMPIONSHIP POINT! JT fends off not one, but two championship-points before sending one long! Sopcic wins his first TowerTennis Championship 6-4,6-4!
Special thanks to all who helped throughout the season: BW, CA, KB, KI, KS, KY, TB, and others. I would also like to thank my son Matthew for his help with the website, and providing the twitter-feed during the championship match. I would also like to thank everyone who donated for a gift card presented to me at the conclusion of the tournament. I hope to see you all next year... SV.
