DH edges AS 5-7,6-1,6-3!
By Steve England, ESVN - Deanna's new service style is a joy to watch, but applied little pressure on Scott. Scott was frequently able to force her front to back, and side to side. Meanwhile, DH attacked Scott with aggressive forehands, and well placed backhands! Her aggressive plan of attack served her well - as Deanna lead the first set 4-1, and 5-3 respectively. DH even holds a set-point against Scott, only to watch her edge evaporate! Scott survives set-point down to overtake and win 7-5!
Down one-set to none, DH comes out swinging in the second. She dominates the action, yielding only a single game as she levels the match one-set all.
Deanna jumps to a 2-0 lead in the third, but begins to show signs of cramping! Her walk becomes labored, and it seems her game is starting to suffer, as Scott runs her side to side. Mustering extra resolve - DH endures lengthy ralleys, and even executes a Sopcic-style maneuver! Scott closes in... but DH pulls away from 4-3, to 5-3! Now serving for the match - DH aces Scott, as he watches a second serve tag the corner! Scott is forced to lunge for a forehand on the next point, and succumbs to an extra-long ralley to face double match-point down! Deanna then executes a lunging two-handed backhand deep crosscourt to the right corner with Scott on the run. Scott can only watch, as the shot falls good! Game, Set, Match... DH wins 5-7,6-1,6-3!
