DNR was in his early 50's when he faced off against JT in the very first TowerTennis Championship. Nearly a decade later... DNR is better than ever! OC's rise to TowerTennis prominence began last year when his ground strokes began to show extraordinary power and finesse. His stroke execution took him to the Final-Four, and caused him to be labeled "The Supe Killer".
Today's match was indeed one of upper level tennis! Each point was a multi-shot marathon of inspirational execution! In the 1st-set DNR lead 5-3, and was on the verge of winning the first battle of this war. OC then broke DNR's serve followed by a hold to tie it up. Doug pulls ahead again at 6-5, but can't prevent an OC backhand winner from forcing a tie-breaker. The breaker was close as well, but OC inched ahead to take the 1st-set 7-6(7-5).
Players were mostly on-serve in the 2nd until the end. OC then edges ahead with aid of a service break to win the set and the match 7-6(7-5), 6-4.
