When I first developed the playoff structure, my goal was to continue competitive match-ups right to the end. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the way I structured the playoffs duplicated match-ups with the same players who faced each other during the regular season. Ideally, a chance to play different (but equally challenging) players in the playoffs would offer competitive diversity, and end up being more enjoyable for the participants.
I am proposing that the playoff structure be changed to accomplish this goal. One of the possible consequences of changing the playoffs is the Fantasy Competition. After projecting the likely scenarios, it appears that BW has a lock on the Fantasy Championship either way. I strongly feel the tournament as a whole would benefit by making this change. ReplyDeleteI'm gonna play devil's advocate here.I believe the proposed change is great, but for next years tournament. I feel that by changing pairings this late into the event opens yourself up for criticism in the event things don't go quite as planned. Either way, the best player will win the tournament, so why potentially add an asterisk behind that champs name?
ReplyDeleteI agree with the change. Never did care for the separation of 'easties' and 'westies' in the playoffs. Yes, it would've been better to do this prior to the season but I still think the change is for the better.
ReplyDeleteThe proposed matchups are nice. It could go one step further though. If SW battled E2 (prior to facing E) and if NW battled WQ (prior to facing S), then we would truly have east vs. west matchups throughout the playoffs.
